Change Head of Household

#1

Post by MissouriRiver-p40 »

We had to update a record with a divorce and now the record of the woman has herself as "head of house" but it has her down as a male and uses her married name and we need it to read with her new married name. Also her record shows her "household members" as her correct name and her previous married name. Help?

I think my knee-jerk advise is restore last backup and try again. That is just too weird - a sex change operation plus spawning new records.

However, by the time you read this, it's probably too late to do a restore since you've done a number of other changes, including the weekly donation processing.

I would do these steps:
1. Print membership records for each person involved for whom you have memberships.
2. Carefully check each printed record, mark the incorrect info. and write the correct info on the membership.
3. Enter any necessary divorce information into MLS and send the transactions.
4. Wait for the divorces to be processed.
5. Print the updated membership records and mark them up with corrections.
6. Enter any necessary marriages, and name changes (Legal and Preferred) and send the transactions.
7. Wait for the changes to be processed.
8. Verify that the printed membership records are correct.
9. Pull up the household screen for the person who should be a head of house.
10. REMOVE anybody who is in the household but should not be.
11. ADD anybody who is not in the household, but should be. If the marriage info on the memberships is correct, then adding a spouse to the household should automatically classify the spouse as such.
