Not Receiving Notifications

#1

Post by gregtaylor »

According to this information on LDSTech I should be receiving notifications of software updates, etc.
"The Stake Technology Specialist and Stake Clerk (as specified in LUWS) will receive e-mail communications (assuming they have entered their e-mail address in their User Profile on the LUWS), such as notifications of new releases of MLS."
I checked and I appear to be setup correctly on our stake website in the leadership directory as the stake technology specialist and my email address is correct and works properly (I sent my self a test message via LUWS and it worked great).

However, I did not receive notification about the recent security and management software updates. Though our stake clerk received them and he forwarded them to me. Also a friend that is also a stake technology specialist for another stake received notification about the updates. So I assume I should have too.

Is there somewhere else I also need to add my email address to ensure I get the notifications I should be getting as the stake technology specialist?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You have to be using the standardized callings. In the case of LUWS, it would be "Stake Technology Specialist" found under "Stake Presidency". If you have admin rights to LUWS, make sure you are on line #6.

It used to be the emails were based on LUWS. I don't know if that's still true. There has been a migration to CDOL. If that's the case, then you must be listed in the stake MLS using a standardized calling. You can test this by going to cdol.lds.org. Your LUWS login should work and you should be able to verify yourself. If you can't log in, then you are probably not set up correctly in the stake MLS.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

It appears that GregTaylor is listed as an Stake Assistant Clerk in CDOL. The correct calling would be Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Spc.

I don't know if they are pulling from LUWS or CDOL.

I just double checked and I am in the LUWS as the standardized calling "Stake Technology Specialist" found under "Stake Presidency" on line 6. And I can login to the CDOL. In the CDOL I am listed as "Stake Assistant Clerk".

If that is all that has to be done then maybe I received the notification and it was identified as spam and put in my spam folder (which I usually delete without checking since I get do much spam). I'll have to keep a close eye on it. Does anyone know what the sender address is for notifications sent out so I can specifically watch for messages from that address?

And if someone knows of somewhere else I need to register my email address to recieve notificaitons, please let me know. Thanks!

I noticed that in the CDOL I do not have an email address. I attempted to edit the assignment and added an email address (the regular email address, not the private email address) and afterwords it indicated that it is active and shows "unpublished changes" though my email address still does not show up. Maybe someone needs to authorize the change (the added email address).

I did not see a way to change my assignment to "Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Spc." If that is what has to be done then someone else will probably have to do that.

Though I also just looked at my friends record in the CDOL and he too is listed as "Stake Assistant Clerk" and does not display an email address either, though he received the notifications.

Yes some with rights will 'publish' those changes and then it will show up.

The easiest way is to get it changed within MLS. Those changes will then update CDOL.

Apparently the email notifications aren't using CDOL then.

I'd suggest you get that updated ito STS in the Stake MLS. It may not help now, but I"m sure it will at some point.

Correct. A real live person at CHQ will do that.

That has to be done in the Stake MLS computer.

Although it is not displayed, your e-mail address is in your LDS Account profile and they may have used that one.
