Hello there.
With the release of MLS 3.1 and the addition of individual phone numbers and email addresses, I decided to create a new ward list including as much information as possible.
In dealing with old Mege Files and CSV exports, I realized that the system that our ward had in place before I became to Clerk had become outdated. Creating a list by hand was going to take eons, so I decided to write a little application that did it for me.
Download Link
Requirements: Windows PC, .Net Framework 3.0
This application uses the "Membership" CSV export from MLS and will automatically create a PDF file for you. It includes all the usual information as well as individual phone numbers for adult members. This program works best with shorter address and clean phone numbers.
I started to add in some functionality to include email addresses, but basically ran out of time (I had to have the list created by Fast Sunday), so the option is currently not available.
Please feel free to give it a try. Feedback is welcome, and I will try to respond in a timely manner.
Thanks

You may want to include a link to the necessary package for download. Not all admin computers are on broadband.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

If you are talking about .NET 3.0, here is that redistributable link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=enRussellHltn wrote:You may want to include a link to the necessary package for download. Not all admin computers are on broadband.

Our stake is currently using the Desktop 5.5 package and it came with most applications already loaded. Additional (approved) applications may be downloaded form mls.lds.org (secured site).boomerbubba wrote:As an aside, when it comes to runtime infrastructure packages for .NET and Java, what packages are routinely installed on administrative computers for general use? And do local units need stake-president approval to install these packages as they do for other software?
The Stake Technology Specialist is generally the individual who would be asked about any additional software to be installed. If he has concerns then they would be shared with the Stake President. As for myself, I don't like to see any application that would tend to put the security of the system or membership data at risk.
IMHO I would rather remain with the software that CHQ has approved. The risks are less and I don't have to run around the stake cleaning up systems that had configurations altered to function with someone's pet application.
This might seem a little restrictive, but I have enjoyed the fact that all of the administrative computers in our stake are working well and aside from a periodic MLS irritation, I'm not having to clean up things.

I know D5.5 came with Java. MLS installs it's own private copy of Java. I believe OpenOffice will install Java if it's not already on the machine.boomerbubba wrote:As an aside, when it comes to runtime infrastructure packages for .NET and Java, what packages are routinely installed on administrative computers for general use?
I've not seen .NET on any D5.5 base install. However, with the retiring of D5.5, the answer is going to depend on what comes on a stock Dell 740 (or whatever the church starts supplying).

I guess it's all in how you want to interpret this. "No other" seems to suggest you need approval. However, unless the SP is a geek himself, I'm not sure as I would want to bother him with that kind of detail while getting the approval of the new program that requires it.No other software should be purchased or
installed on Church computers unless it is
approved by the stake president, is appropriately
licensed, and does not interfere with the
operation of or compromise the security of the
Church software and data already on the
computer.
As a STS, my concern is in keeping them updated. .NET will auto update with the Microsoft updates. Java can be set for automatic updates, but usually requires manual intervention.

For some reason or another, I am not able to edit my original post anymore. So, here it goes: I have an updated download link for the installer.

Also, the conversation has shifted some into frameworks, etc to be installed on church computers. I guess had never really intended for this app to be used on one (but rather to be used at home), so I had never considered the fact that it may not be possible to install the necessary framework(s).
