CCN Software Instalation

#1

Post by MorettiDP »

I'm helping to correct a problem at our S&I (CES) coordinator office. In a Dell computer now formatted, I need to install a CCN software to connect the machine to the Church's network.

I imagine to download this I need the password for https://ccn.ldschurch.org/. If yes, where I can receive the correct username and password? If not, how I can find the CCN software?

Thanks!

This is referring to the Odyssey Client -- the installation program for which is wirelessclient.exe. In the past, this was required to connect to CCN wireless networks. However, many CCNs have now switched to the LDSAccess profile, which requires no special client software.

So I would check the following:
  1. Do you need wireless access? If you have a direct Ethernet connection, no special CCN software is needed.
  2. If you do need wireless access, is there an available wireless network called "LDSAccess"? If so, you can connect to it using standard WPA security; no special wireless client is required.
  3. If there is no LDSAccess network, then you probably do need the Odyssey client. You might check to see if you can find wirelessclient.exe on some other computer on the network.
Note that the Odyssey client requires an activation key that only the Global Service Desk can provide. Since you'll have to talk to the GSD anyway, if you can't locate wirelessclient.exe, call the GSD and they can tell you how to download it.

We have three machines at the network. Two are using wireless connection and one another are using cable connection directly to the Cisco Pix firewall.

I can't know if Cisco Pix is setup to access LDSAccess (have a way to know it without call to GSD?), but the machine connected to the Pix are inside the network. Only one of the other machines (wireless) have a problem and are formatted.

I will call GSD, but I imagine GSD aren't working today. I will try January 4th.

If you have a wireless adapter, you should be able to just do View Available Wireless Networks. If LDSAccess is configured on the wireless access point, then you should see it show up in the list of available wireless networks.

GSD is open 24x7. Sometimes when you need help on a specific topic, some specialists may take holidays off, but your questions here are pretty basic. You should be able to get help any time, night or day.

Uhm... but we don't need all with this great need. CES offices are in vacancy, and we can do it in January to give to people at GSD a happy new year. ^_^

Thanks, Alan!
