does anyone have some sample "invitation to tithing settlement" letters (from bishop to ward members) they can share/post?

We are making our final push to accomplish tithing settlement, and would like to send out "invitations" to those who have not yet participated. We failed to do this in october/november, when we should have. (We'll know better next year.)

Several of you mentioned letters from the bishop you send with the donations summary at the beginning of tithing settlement. Could you share those by posting them, with personal references removed, of course?

As a new ward clerk, I'd love to see what others feel is working and effective.

We did it the grunt work way, getting 3 clerks and a secretary on the phones for a week. But we also had to follow up with reminder calls the night before. We are already at 50-60% declaration and have had something like 98% of appointments made kept. We have obviously been blessed because of our efforts.

Besides the bishop's letter, I included one from myself to explain enclosed documents (donation statements and IOS's). We usually get one or two inactives to come in for TS as well as a few others who are willing to update their records (sometimes asking for name removal). By putting "Address Correction Requested" on the envelopes, we also get a handful of them back from those who have moved.

The correct postal endorsement is actually "Return Service Requested." Check your bishop's stationery envelopes that CHQ prints.

USPS may honor yours, but it technically it has a different meaning. See also the USPS definitions here.

The wording "Address Correction Requested" was indeed used in the distant past, but as of 1 July 1997, the "Return Service Requested" wording should be used.

Just as a side note, it's a good idea to blot out the "Return Service Requested" wording for the final mailing of donation statements in January. This allows the Post Office to automatically forward the statements to those that may have moved. Otherwise you will get them back with the new address affixed to them and must put on additional postage to finally send them on. Rinse and repeat for those who may have moved more than once. (Think student ward, or large military presence.)

Used google forms to create an online sign up sheet. Most members in the United States have a smart phone and email so they are computer literate. I followed this video which clearly explained how to layout the form and how to enable choice elimination for each time slot and how to direct users through the form.
