Fast Offering Routes in MLS?

#1

Post by coloradotechie-p40 »

We are kind of running into an interesting situation for fast offering routes. Every 3 months the Deacon's Quorum adviser re-does Fast Offering routes by printing out a ward list and making sure everyone is accounted for.

However, this means that some people that have requested to be removed from the route have been re-added after a few months. (We have a large ward and the advisor is new so it has been hard to remember who does/doesn't want to be on a route).

The YM President asked if we could mark a member's record as "No FO Route" in MLS so when the advisor prints out the list it is easy to see who shouldn't be included in a route.

Are there any options for custom fields in MLS to be able to track this sort of thing? I didn't think there was but I thought I'd ask.

In the end I'll probably suggest they keep their own list because MLS doesn't do Fast Offering Routes and doesn't have a Fast Offering Route Management Module :) (or at least there isn't any custom fields that we could use to denote whether the household does/doesn't want to be on a Fast Offering route :-) ).

Thanks~!

MLS does have the capability for custom fields, as you can read in the wiki artilce Custom fields (MLS). Such fields are for an individual member, but I suppose you could attach such a field to the Head of Household. You can only access such fields using a Custom report.

I suppose you could create a custom field for FO Route, which could be a number (or however you define your routes) or something like "No Route". Then you could make a custom report that sorted by route, and you would just have to deal with those households that have a blank route (or any other route updates).

So, I've added some custom fields but I can't find how to change those fields for the member:

Image

The wiki page says "Once you have selected the member for whom you wish to assign Custom Member Fields, select the Custom Fields tab in the left navigation panel."

Unfortunately, I can't figure this out

Where should I be selecting the member from? I suppose I shouldn't be going into their individual record because I can't find any custom field option in the left navigation panel.

Thanks!
