Serving in the Church - Technology Specialist Training

Are there any plans to develop web-based training for Stake/Ward Technology Specialists? I'm not familiar with all the A/V or other technologies used in Church applications that are discussed through various areas of this forum. I think it would be helpful for those of us wannabes and others who are new to tech-related callings or could fill in a gap where tech expertise is lacking in our local units if we could have online training for use of standard A/V, satellite, and other Church technologies and equipment. I don't know the potential conflicts for confidential information the Church would rather not be public. Some basic A/V and other training to provide a foundation would also be nice or links (with appropriate disclaimers) to good online resources if the Church did not provide training would also be nice. Thoughts?

There is a project in the works. I can't comment on it further as I don't know what the status is, when it will be available, etc.

This is good to know. I agree with Karl, it would be great to have a little training. I've become the de facto stake technology specialist because ours lives an hour away from the stake center. After years of being in the building I constantly find things I wasn't aware of and after reading some of the postings here, realize I'm still quite the beginner.

But that is best part, stumbling upon a new tech in the building. I was interested to find out how the Primary's audio system could receive different systems based on the toggle switch. (Primary Mic, Channel 3 Audio, Chapel Audio). Also the audio input/output for tape recorders up near the stand in the chapel. And just think of other surprises you might find.

But that is best part, stumbling upon a new tech in the building.

Sometimes it has been exciting to find new things like the day I found the control box for the different microphone jacks in the cultural hall. For years we were putting up with no volume control and feedback issues and the control box was always in a cupboard in the library.

Of course some discoveries are frustrating. We were getting a feed from somewhere into the cultural hall and couldn't turn it off or down. It took weeks of frustration and a service technician to find that I had the satellite feed turned up on the control box.
