Cub Scout Dens as Primary Class

#1

Post by rrketcheson »

I'm working on the cub scout callings right now and plan to add each den to Primary as a class. This should also provide rosters for den meetings. Is anything wrong with this approach?

This sounds to me like a good approach. If you haven't already you may want to review the information at the LDSTech Wiki article Classes.

Do you mean to say the boys will meet without the girls during primary on Sunday?

No, this is just a suggestion to have the dens as additional classes in the Primary organization. The boys would also be in a Valiant class (probably with girls) for their Sunday meetings.

More of a way to group the children together into one logical organization. There is no intention for it to literally be a Primary class that meets on Sundays.

Setup Complete

#6

Post by rrketcheson »

I was able to set up each of the dens as a separate primary organization. For reference, Wolf scouts are 8 years old, Bear scouts are 9 years old, and Webelos scouts are 10 years old. New scouts, formerly known as Blazer scouts, are 11 years old.

Thank you jdlessley for the tip to read up on classes at https://tech.lds.org/wiki/index.php/Classes. This was key to proper setup of the new classes and helped me resolve an issue we were having with another custom class. I'll try to find the right area of this forum to post that fix.

Anyway, cub scouts do not meet on Sunday. However, boys are now automatically assigned to dens and rosters are available for tracking attendance. Thank you all.
