iStake problem
I am the stake admin for my stake and when another stake asked for my help, they registered me as an out of unit member to give me access to their sites. Today when I tried to update the info on iStake on my iPhone, it uploaded the info from the stake I am helping, not my own stake. I reported this to the iStake developers, they said I should have a seperate user name for each stake. Is this possible?

If you're talking about a login into LUWS, no. It's not possible. (Not ethically, anyway.) Your LUWS ID is tied to your membership number. If you attempt to create another ID, it gives you the option of signing in with your existing ID, or trying another membership number (this is where the ethics comes in.)zaneclark wrote:I reported this to the iStake developers, they said I should have a seperate user name for each stake. This is the reply I received from iStake when I asked them how to resolve the problem:
"The username and password you*use*when*you*log*in*is*what*determines*which*stake*your*app*will*put*on*your*device.*You*should*have*a*different*username*and*password*for*each*stake.*Just make sure you use the one for stake you want in your device."
I guess you are saying that I am stuck until my name is removed from the other stake......is that right?

I think you need to explain to them about the "out of unit member" function of LUWS and as such you are a member of two stakes and that their program doesn't seem to support that. I suspect they are unaware of that feature of LUWS. You may want to point them to this thread.
Since I've never been an "out of unit member" I don't know how you switch between units.

Unfortunately, that iStake rep doesn't know how login to LUWS works. You can only have one LDS Account.zaneclark wrote:This is the reply I received from iStake when I asked them how to resolve the problem:

That's correct. When you are a Non-resident Member for another stake's website, that becomes your default stake that you are automatically routed to when you login to LUWS. I believe the assumption is that if you are serving in another stake, that stake will be your primary focus. But in any case, because that is your default stake, that is where iStake will get your data.zaneclark wrote:I guess you are saying that I am stuck until my name is removed from the other stake......is that right?
The only way to change your default stake back to your home stake is for the other stake to remove you as a Non-resident Member.

I would recommend - after reading all the problems that your actions have created - that you hold a few training meetings with this "other" stake and bring their Stake Technical Specialist up to date. He can login with his own account and you can work with him to help him learn the ropes of LUWS.
This would be much safer than working with two accounts and it would have the added benefit of training so they can eventually work on their own.

Have you read the Code of Conduct?

The term is "Non-resident Member", just to be precise.RussellHltn wrote:I think you need to explain to them about the "out of unit member" function of LUWS and as such you are a member of two stakes and that their program doesn't seem to support that. When you login to LUWS, you are always taken to your default stake, which -- if you have been added as a Non-resident Member -- is the stake you are a Non-resident member of.
However, you can still navigate to your home stake and you have all the same rights you ever had to see all the details of that stake site and all the ward sites for that stake. You can navigate there by clicking on the "Stake and Ward Web Sites" link and search for your home stake (which you then can bookmark).
It is certainly possible for the iStake developers to add a configuration setting for this situation where you would specify which stake you want them to extract information from. You'd just have to convince them to implement such a feature.

I think you're a bit confused about what is being discussed. Zane only has one account, and his actions have not caused any problems at all for anyone else.Techgy wrote:I would recommend - after reading all the problems that your actions have created - that you hold a few training meetings with this "other" stake and bring their Stake Technical Specialist up to date. The only problem being discussed is that his iStake iPhone application cannot get information from the home stake because he has been designated as a Non-Resident Member in another stake.
But it is perhaps a good question as to whether the other stake should have added him as a Non-resident member just to get help.

Correct.Alan_Brown wrote:The only problem being discussed is that the iStake iPhone application cannot get information from the home stake when someone has been designated as a Non-Resident Member in another stake.
He was addressing eliminating the need to be a Non-Resident Member of the other stake. The best option would be to iStake to update their application, but that's outside of zaneclark's control. Zaneclark's best option that is under his control is to eliminate the need to be a Non-Resident Member. Perhaps using a screen sharing tool he can hold the hand of the other admin and conduct training without having to be a member of that stake. From that standpoint, Techgy's suggestion has merit.Alan_Brown wrote:I think you're a bit confused about what is being discussed.
