New FamilySearch data model

#1

Post by rmrichesjr »

Is there any possibility at some point for an article (maybe along the lines of the article about the Distributed Nagios eXecutor) about the data model of the new FamilySearch?

Knowing a little of the behind-the-scenes stuff can help make better sense and promote better use of the front-end stuff. For example, for one of my ancestor families Pedigree mode shows one group of parents for the couple, while Family Group Record mode shows a different group of parents. When I submitted it as an issue, I got a reply that while common sense might say the two modes should display the same group of parents, the difference is by design. If I knew a little more about the data model and in what way this difference is designed in, I could make better use of the system.

I'm working with the Family History group to get some technical documents published.
