Incorrect Youth Sunday School Membership & Attendance Rolls

#1

Post by aprayzr »

The Sunday School membership list and attendance rolls follow the old format for membership age groups. The new membership format is to include, for instance, those that will be turning 16 during this year are to be included in the 16-17 year-old class. However, the lists printed from LCR still show only those that are of the designated age as of January 1. I have made customized lists for the membership for each class that are correct, but cannot duplicate that effort in creating attendance rolls. Is this going to be corrected soon, or is there something we need to do at the ward level to affect this change?

The changes in how youth transition in Aaronic Priesthood quorums and Young Women classes did not change Sunday School classes except to add an 11 year old SS class. The classes are still named based on the age of the youth at the beginning of the year. So the Course 11 class is for those who are 11 at the start of the year, Course 12 for the those 12 and so forth. By default LCR has a class for each age group. If you have a Course 16-17 it is because your ward has combined the 16 and 17 year old courses. If you want to have those who are 15 and 16 years old at the beginning of the year in the same class then you need to split the Course 16-17 back into two courses and then combine the Course 15 and Course 16 classes.

But LCR does already handle Sunday School classes in the intended manner (see this post by one of the LCR developers: viewtopic.php?f=112&t=33150&p=191022&hi ... ll#p191022)

What eblood66 said.

Your configuration is that you have:
  • Course 11 - Members age 11 at the beginning of the year who will turn 12 during the year
  • Course 12, Course 13 - Members age 12 and 13 at the beginning of the year who will turn 13 or 14 during the year
  • Course 14, Course 15 - Members age 14 and 15 at the beginning of the year who will turn 15 or 16 during the year
  • Course 16, Course 17 - Members age 16 and 17 at the beginning of the year who will turn 17 or 18 during the year
If you look at your Course 14, Course 15 roll, you will see eight members who had their birthday during the first quarter. Four of those were 15 and are now 16; four were 14 and are now 15. By the end of the year, this class (14+15) will be full of 15- and 16-year-olds.

Basically all we need is the Attendance Rolls to reflect the members in the class list. Who actually ends up in a given class should ultimately be under the direction of the local Bishop - not the IT Membership System.

The bishop is to follow the Handbook. Some things are flexible, some are not. IT does not determine the rules. The Developers are given the rules by the same people who write the Handbook.

As far as I know, the system supports moving any youth into any youth SS class but the clerk or a SS presidency member has to do it manually. And once they are moved to a non-standard class then they won't transition from class to class at the beginning of the year automatically since the system wouldn't know what class they should transition to. So if the local unit does this then they have to also manually move members at the beginning of each year.

I'm a new ward clerk and it seems like our ward has been having To manually change them each year. How do I fix it so that it goes back to the default?

I'm no longer in a role to see this, but there used to be an option to reset the classes. I think It resets all of them, so consider that if you only want to reset some. After they are reset, youth will progress automatically next year.

That is correct. The reset is only available for all the Sunday School Classes and not just the youth Sunday School Classes. Any special classes for the adults will be lost. To do a reset go to LCR > Organizations > Sunday School. On the right of the page, on the same line as the bold Sunday School title is the edit icon. Click it and select the "Reset Classes to Default" option. It's actually the only option. And then click the Reset button.

You can overcome this reset challenge by printing to PDF all the classes for reference in restoring the special adult classes after the reset.

Why are boys and girls that have moved out of the primary and into the Young Women and Young Men’s programs still showing in activities days? Do I as the ward clerk need to do something to fix that?
