JOTA brings worldwide Scouts together this weekend

Post by Mikerowaved »

Some 500,000 Scouts and leaders will get together on Amateur Radio waves and Internet during the 51st Jamboree On The Air and 12th Jamboree On The Internet this Saturday and Sunday (18-19 Oct 2008). The LDS Church has always been a strong supporter of the Scouting program and many LDS Scouts will participate in JOTA this year (particularly on Saturday) speaking with other Scouts in foreign lands, strengthening relationships and creating lasting bonds.

For those Amateur Radio operators (or listeners) interested, the following will be used as calling frequencies:

Code: Select all

BAND PHONE(MHz) CW(MHz)
80 m 3.690 & 3.940 3.570
40 m 7.090 & 7.190 7.030
20 m 14.290 14.060
17 m 18.140 18.080
15 m 21.360 21.140
12 m 24.960 24.910
10 m 28.390 28.180
 6 m 50.160 50.160
More information can be found HERE, and a PDF flyer of the event can be downloaded from THIS page.

Many thanks to the ham operators around the world who share their time and personal equipment with the Scouts to make this all possible.
