No Sound in Overflow from the chapel

#1

Post by standera »

The overflow doors are open during sacrament meeting but no sound is coming through the over head speakers in the overflow. Chapel speakers are working fine. I'm not sure how to fix this issue.

A member of your bishopric or a clerk should report the problem in FIR or contact your stake Physical Facilities Representative (a high councilor). The Facilities Management Group should fix the problem.

Some chapels have a optical switch activated by moving the curtain past a certain point. Others have a manual switch on the wall. You'll want to confirm that the system is being "used" properly.

Great, thank you! We turned the sound system off then back on and we closed the overflow doors and reopened them. We now have sounds. We didn't find a switch to flip. We just see the sensors on the overflow door track.

It sounds as if the system just needed a reboot so it would pick up the status of the sensors. If you have sensors just off-center above the folding doors, there will not be a switch, or if there is an old one, it should have been deactivated.

I'm glad that it worked. If it starts to become a problem, I'd report it to FM. It might be some relay contacts getting dirty.

those optic sensors are a common issue. If you experience the problem again, report it to the FM Group. They'll likely need to replace the sensors, clean them, or have the hardware in the A/V cabinet gone over. We've had to replace a number of sensors in various buildings and replace hardware as well.
