I'm logged in but when I try to access my ward, calendar, directory etc, I get access denied. Just wondering why.

Odds are you don't have a membership number attached to your account. So the system doesn't recognize you as a member, much less what ward you belong to.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.
