Does LCR automatically update Primary/Nursery rolls every year? If so, why isn't it?

#1

Post by joshuajohnwallace »

I was going through the Primary rolls for my ward today and I noticed that things weren't in order. There were six children on the Nursery rolls who are actually in Sunbeams, and my own child (who has been in nursery for a year and a half) wasn't listed on any rolls in Nursery or Primary.

Does LCR automatically update the Primary roles every year, or is that something that has to be done manually? And what about the Nursery rolls?

It should update rolls automatically unless people have been manually moved to a different class. When that is the case there should be an asterisk by the name in the Organizations -> Primary -> Members section of LCR. Once you move them back to their default class they should be automatically adjusted in the future.

If your assignments are significantly off you can use the pencil icon next to the Primary header in the Organizations -> Primary page to reset all classes to default. But if you have any split or combined classes it will reset them and you'd have to do the splits/combines again.

But these people hadn't been manually moved to another class. Specifically for my child, he had never been assigned a class in the first place so he couldn't have been assigned to a different class even if we had wanted to. Is there another reason why things may not have updated?

If no class assignment was ever made, a child should show up on the Nursery list at the right time and then move up normally through the Primary classes.

You might wish to visit with your ward clerk to see that there is an actual membership record for your child. He may be listed as a child on your membership record, but if an actual membership record never was created for him, he would not show up on the rolls.

I'm not as sure about this but I think if classes have been split or combined it can cause the automatic rules to not work or appear to not work.

For instance, if the nursery class were combined and then split (rather than uncombined) and renamed it might create a 'nursery' class that is actually using the sunbeam rules. Resetting all classes to defaults would fix any such problems.
