Expat, Donation from non-US Currency to US Bank
I'm living outside the US for a couple of years and then returning. My understanding is that the IRS does not recognize the Church where I am at for tax purposes. Do you know if I can donate to SLC via another currency for my donations? The alternative would be to transfer money to my US account and pay from there.

Through LDS Philanthropies you can donate via stocks, Bitcoin, and several other methods. They might be able to take foreign currency as well.

For the regular Online Donation system, that probably would be best, although there are a few other countries that use the Online system if you happen to be living in one of them. There are reports that Canada, Brazil, and at least one other country are using the system. There may be more by now. An email to donations@ldschurch.org would get an answer to the question for you.pocockml wrote:The alternative would be to transfer money to my US account and pay from there.

Don't rely on this board for answers - Call the main number for the church and ask for the Finance Department and talk through your options. The clerks/people who are on these boards do have a degree of experience, but the finances team deals with situations like yours very commonly and will have the BEST information for you.

I agree.johnshaw wrote:Don't rely on this board for answers -
As I said, johnshaw wrote:Call the main number for the church and ask for the Finance Department and talk through your options.
Or if you do wish to call, the Finance Department will transfer you to Donations if you do not ask for them directly from the switchboard.lajackson wrote:An email to donations@ldschurch.org would get an answer to the question for you.
