New familysearch.org account won't open

How can I open/reopen a brand new account in familysearch.org? It is refusing to accept the user name and password it accepted as I created the account, that I used to get into this forum. When I asked to have the user name sent to me it was the one I had in my records. When I use that user name to try to get a new password, I am told it does not exist. Help! Please.

There have been problems with the SSO servers all week. Today was an especially difficult time.

I enter the user name password I am using to post here,

"User name does not exist"

Too bad. I was looking forward to using Family Search.
