Home teaching assignments
I'm trying to make assignments for home teaching and had difficulty assigning a deacon to a companionship (the bishop and his son no less!). I understand that this may not be standard but it would be nice to have the option. In addition It would be nice to have the option of a free text addition to a companionship in order to add an out-of-unit member serving in a singles ward but performing home teaching in his ward of residence.

Re: Home teaching assignments
The Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) development business plan closely follows the guidelines in the handbook. While the handbook does not specifically prohibit Deacons from serving as home teaching companions it only states that Teachers and Priests are assigned as junior companions to Melchizedek Priesthood holder home teaching companions (Handbook 2, 7.4.2, fifth paragraph).
Until the handbook is changed it is unlikely that any development for LCR to accommodate assigning a Deacon as a HT companion will happen.

Just to be clear, the business rules are not interpreted by the developers, but they are handed down from on high.jdlessley wrote:The Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) development business plan closely follows the guidelines in the handbook.

Re: Home teaching assignments
An out-of-unit leader's membership records should be kept in his home (residence) ward. An out-of-unit membership record is created in his service (singles) ward. Because his real membership records are still in his home (residence) ward, he can be assigned home teachers and given a home teaching assignment in that home ward without needing a workaround.btstevens wrote:in order to add an out-of-unit member serving in a singles ward but performing home teaching in his ward of residence.

You may want to review this post. Not allowing out-of-unit members to HT or be Home Taught is not an oversight. That's the business rules handed down. You can give feedback via the feedback link in LCR, but given what we're told, I highly doubt it will happen.btstevens wrote:In addition It would be nice to have the option of a free text addition to a companionship in order to add an out-of-unit member serving in a singles ward but performing home teaching in his ward of residence.
