Windows 10 18 months out of date
I notice that our PC is still running Windows 10 1511, released November of 2015, and several critical security fixes were never pushed out. Are local units supposed to be running Windows Update ourselves to make sure the systems are up to date and secure?

From what I've seen, the computers should be running Windows update, but will pull from church servers.

I concur. I've seen instructions somewhere, that state that any updates are handled by the installed BES client. This is the church's method for controlling what updates are installed and when.russellhltn wrote:From what I've seen, the computers should be running Windows update, but will pull from church servers.

You may wish to work with your stake technology specialist to contact the Global Service Center and see why your computer is not getting the updates from the Church. You should be getting them from the Church and not directly from the regular Windows Update channel.aclawson wrote:I notice that our PC is still running Windows 10 1511, released November of 2015, and several critical security fixes were never pushed out. aclawson, what machines are we talking about? Except for two machines, all of ours are 2-3 year old machines that were upgraded from Win7. Given the new Win10 machines also had a different password policy, they might also have a different update policy.

I just checked a few of our computers. All of them were running build 10586, which seems to be the same was what you're seeing (version wise).

This is a new machine, just installed, with Win 10 out of the box.
