Our stake MLS computer did a major Windows update today (Tuesday 25 October 2016). Now has a scary tree Halloween looking scene as the opening screen (am not sure Church HQ would approve of the image). The update sequenced through a number of pages telling us it was going to make windows safer in the online world.
We can print from all other applications but we cannot print anything from MLS. If we try to print to the Samsung printer OR use either of two print to PDF programs we have used before (Cute PDF and one from Microsoft) from MLS, it either prints into outerspace (somewhere we cannot find it) OR it fails MLS and MLS closes itself.
If we print from MLS to the printer, nothing shows up in the printer que.
We can print to the printer just fine from all other applications (printed the church web page home page just fine and from notepad just fine)
We let the computer run from about 10:30AM to 6pm before we tried to print from it (started updating about 10:30 am) I had our technical specialist look at it about 6pm. He said he thought the computer might still be updating or we may need to reinstall MLS. Our technology specialist is highly skilled.
We are running the latest version of MLS, we both checked.
I am concerned about other units in our stake having similar problems this Sunday. We will be sending them a message to turn the machines on so the update can comedown during the week. But are concerned they will not be able to print either (cant make a deposit and cant write checks).
We did disconnect the printer and restart the computer several times.
The computer and printer and MLS worked perfectly late in the day this past Sunday (two days ago). This problem happened after the major windows update.
Any ideas? Anybody else experiencing similar issues?
Does MLS have a compatibility issue with the latest windows update ?

The last version of MLS would auto-update, but would still nag saying it needed to update. It turns out the auto-update can't update the underlying Java. For that, you need to download MLS and do a "overtop" install. Fairly painless. Just follow the prompts. Don't try to install/update Java manually. MLS only uses a privately installed instance. Doing it the right way (reinstalling MLS on top of itself) is faster and less hassle.

I did the MLS "over the top" installation suggested and I can print from MLS again!
We did not even have to use a backup. The install was quick and went smoothly.

Had the issue where MLS would just go away if you clicked on the print button in any of the MLS screens
