We have a lot of military service sisters and brothers in our ward. A couple has been called at the Stake Level to assist in ministering to these persons, especially for families with a deployed parent. We have been asked to identify as many members on our records as we can that are military.
This is a huge project for our particular ward, and the data is constantly changing. Is there any field at all in MLS or LCR that we can use to annotate this in an individual record, that will persist when the record is moved on? We know all about the custom codes, but we think that using that would be a huge waste of effort, as some of our members move out, and then back in months or years later, and the custom code data does not stay with the record.
Thank you, and I hope this request makes sense.

No, there is not.casdvm wrote:Is there any field at all in MLS or LCR that we can use to annotate this in an individual record, that will persist when the record is moved on?
You can submit the request using the Feedback link in LCR, but for privacy/legal reasons, I think the it's highly unlikely the church would create such a field.

I agree. We were just hoping. It is nice to have these people called to help minister, but sometimes the load on us clerks and secretaries seems at least whelming.
Thank you for the feedback.

Presumably, the clerk or someone has to talk to them as part of the move-in process. My suggestion would be to watch the move in and move out lists and have the clerks ask if the member is military-related as part of their regular process for getting move-in information. Then they can pass that information on to you.
