Email verification code invalid

I have a young man in my ward that is trying to set up an LDS.org account. He put in his member info, and set everything up, but when he got to put in the verification code he got in his email it kept telling him it was not valid. We both verified he was typing in the right code, but it wouldn't work. We tried to have the site resend a new code, but now it won't send him anything. Ideas?

Is his email domain name one letter, like q.com? I've seen that trip up email validators even though it's valid.
