Tax Exempt Forms

#1

Post by scjejsimon »

Our Relief Society Pres asked Walmart for a money donation. They said they would donate $150.00 but needed a letter with our churches tax exempt # on it or a tax exempt form with our tax exempt #. Does anyone know where to find this or what it is?

Apparently you live in a state that uses tax exempt forms and numbers. Some states do not. Ask your stake clerk or one of the other clerks for the form and number for your stake. You can also learn more about tax exempt sales at the web site of your state comptroller, or tax office, or state tax commission, or similar agency. The form certifies to the retailer that you are exempt from paying state sales tax because you are a tax exempt organization under state law.

I'd refer her to Funding for Activities. All RS activities are to be funded by the unit.

Now, if you're trying to get a tax exemption, that's a different thing.

Please contact your local Facilities Management Group (FMG) office and they can inform you if the church is tax exempt in your area
