Number requirements to become a ward

#1

Post by liahona27 »

What are the exact criterion to become a ward? I'm currently working on our YSA branch mission plan, and I'm trying to establish goals that will take us in that direction. I know there are numbers for active priesthood and tithe payers and so on. That's exactly what I need to know.

Have you checked Handbook 1, 9.1.7? That's what Handbook 2 indicates for YSA Wards.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Did you mean 9.1.6?

Correct. 6 is for wards, 7 is for stakes.

Can you post the answer for family wards? I don't have access to Handbook 1.

The Code of Conduct does not allow the quoting of Handbook 1. But a member of your YSA branch presidency or the branch clerk can look it up for you. Ask in your next branch council meeting.

And note that the numbers for a conventional ward and a YSA ward will be different.

And it's more than just a number. Other conditions must be met so there is enough leadership to run the new ward. That can be a bigger issue.
