General Conference Download

#1

Post by hadov »

To Whom It May Concern;

I tried to download President Eyring's talk entitled "Where Two or Three Are Gathered." I tried it both in Firefox and Explorer; but they wouldn't download.

"Gospel Library" is a great app. I prefer to download the talks to my computer. You need an Internet connection to listen to the talks and Scriptures in "Gospel Library." I do not have an Internet connection when I'm traveling. I like to listen to one talk a week in order for my feeble mind to learn and appreciate it better. I copy a talk to a playlist with other items; so they will play while I am traveling.

I am using Windows 11 64-bit.

Sincerely;

Two possible options:

1) Find a good podcast app from the Windows store and then find the LDS church GC podcast and down load the files from there.

2) Using the new Microsoft Edge browser and not the old Internet Explorer 11 browser go to: https://www.lds.org/general-conference?lang=eng&_r=1 and download the files from there for offline viewing or listening.

FYI: There is no Windows 11, but there is a Windows 10.

Hope that helps.

Just as a side note, other versions of Gospel Library may be different, but in Android, if I click the "Play" (sideways triangle) button on that talk, one option is "Download Media". If I choose that, I get a list of media. I downloaded the audio (other options were: video, both audio and video, everything for April 2016 GC). When it was done downloaded, I disabled the WiFi and mobile data and just for fun, I put the phone in airplane mode, so there should be no way for it to stream. Then I hit "Play" again and chose "Listen". And it played the talk.

So, you can use at least the Android without internet, you just have to download ahead of time.

I also have the same problem. Seems to have started a few weeks ago. I have tried two windows 10 computers. Try F12 on a browser and you see this in the browser debugger - "all.min.js:1 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <"

Talks on GC pages will not even play, let alone download.

The other thing that started happening at the same time was that the images of the speaker on the main pages no longer show up.
https://www.lds.org/general-conference?lang=eng&_r=1 for example has no images, the space is there as if they should show up, but they are missing.
Using the DOM explorer, you can certainly see that there is supposed to be an image:

<noscript class="lazy lumen-image__lazy" data-alt="Video Presentation" data-mobile="" data-desktop="//media.ldscdn.org/images/videos/general-conference/april-2016-general-conference/2016-03-0010-when-we-were-strangers-100x83-6x5.jpg"><img src="//media.ldscdn.org/images/videos/general-conference/april-2016-general-conference/2016-03-0010-when-we-were-strangers-100x83-6x5.jpg" alt="Video Presentation" class="lumen-image__image" /></noscript>
