Fast Offering donations

#1

Post by ltalvarez »

My husband and I are serving as Senior Missionaries in Cape Verde and would like to donate our fast offerings to the ward here. Can we do that online? If so, how?

There are two issues here.

First, donations are made to the church and not your unit. The only exception is donations to missionaries where you can identify the missionary. While local units may monitor the fast offering donations it's members make and then try to limit fast offering assistance to not exceed donations, it is not a church requirement or policy. Local leaders using a local policy like this give members the false impression that fast offerings made while a member of a unit are used solely for that unit.

Second, on-line donations are currently limited to members in the U.S. using U.S. bank accounts. Some members who have moved abroad but stilling using a U.S. bank for their donations can continue to make donations on-line but must contact headquarters to enable the capability. The ability to make donations while living abroad has had some difficulties in the past. But if you made donations on-line while in the U.S. using a U.S. bank and move outside the U.S. you will automatically lose the ability once you move outside the United States. To restore that capability you must continue to use a U.S. bank and request church headquarters restore the ability to make on-line donations.

Your home unit is where your membership record is kept.
