Meetinghouse Locator

#1

Post by hadov »

Dear Brethren and Sisters;

I really do not like the new meetinghouse locator site. Every time I put a city into the search box, I get a message that the search was too general or too broad.

I like the old way where you could type in Liberty, Missouri and you would get the building locations around Liberty, Missouri.

I like the old way where you could type in Liberty, Missouri and get the Stake information as to other units in the Stake. You might not want to attend the wards in one building because they are near to your hotel. It would give you a choice of buildings and times to attend.

If you spoke another language, you might want to find a unit that spoke your language. By having all these units in the state listed, you can see if your language was represented by one of the church units.

Sincerely;
Benyamin "Ben" Abrams

I had no problem doing several searches similar to what you were trying to do. I began typing, and after I had typed "Libery, M" i got a list of close matches so I selected "Liberty, MO, United States" from the list. It displayed a popup box labeled"Looking for: Everything". That label would change to reflect any of the refinements made in the pop-up. I could select a language from a drop-down list box and/or further refine what I was looking for, such as Family, Young Single Adult (18-30), etc. At the very bottom of the pop-up I could also select a sacrament meeting time.

I did this for seven random locations by city and a couple by address and did not get any error messages.

By clicking on a meetinghouse from my searches the map changed to show the unit boundaries and surrounding meeting house locations. It was quite easy to find what I was looking for. I don't think stake information is available through this tool anymore since the tool has been refined to provide meetinghouses and units in those meeting houses.

If you feel it is necessary to show the meetinghouse in which a stake has offices then I suggest using the "Suggest and Edit" link found on the meetinghouse popup or by using the feedback link on other LDS.org pages.

I didn't realize at first that the area where it says "Looking for: Everything" had a popup box with more options. That could be improved.
