hymn numbers not matching between text and music

Post by solidlikeplato »

In both the latest version, and the latest beta version, the hymn displayed by the image of the music does not match that displayed by the text only version. the offset seems like it might to be related to those hymns that are copyrighted, as there is not any image for those hymns. If it helps, i am running on an i5 surface pro 4.

This issue has already been fixed in Gospel Library Beta and its fix will roll out to the non-beta version of the app in the next update.

The desyncing was caused, by the content team, by a change to the files we use to show the sheet music.

For anyone who may be curious, the offset sheet music problem affects English, Spanish, and Portuguese hymns on all platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows.

Basically, the sheet music PDFs had pages added, and the app got the updated PDFs before it got updated page numbers. Page numbers, which serve as an index to the PDF, are stored in our content database along with the text of the songs, etc. and there are a few development issues that are holding up this part of the content release.

This is the first time we've added pages to our music PDFs so we're learning and hopefully we'll be able to put in some catches to keep the offset from happening again. :)

The good news is that this will add 5 hymns that the Church didn't have permission to publish digitally before:
– All Creatures of Our God and King
– If You Could Hie to Kolob
– I Saw a Mighty Angel Fly
– For All the Saints
– Be Still My Soul

Along with these hymns, we will be about doubling the content in the app with this release, adding hymnbooks and Children's Songbooks in several new languages.

And it will continue to exist until the content team fixes the issue on their end. As sbradsaw pointed out above, this issue affects all platforms and is not an app bug.

This bug has been fixed in the new version of LDS Music for Android (1.1.0), which was released to Google Play yesterday:

A resolution for iOS and Windows will hopefully be coming shortly.
