Visibility Settings not respected

#1

Post by mrclary »

I've successfully been able to set the visibility settings of members' information via LDS Tools or on the lds.org website. However, I have one household in the directory that is being stubborn and won't keep the visibility settings that I set. Does anyone have any insight into why this may happen?

Are you trying to set a individual to be more open then the household setting for his/her family? For example, if the household is set to "leader only", you won't be able to set any individuals in that family to anything else. That's the only restriction I can think of.

I think there's some limits to restrictions as far as how they function when looking at callings - but that shouldn't affect your ability to change the setting and make it stick.

I'm trying to set it to be more restrictive. Currently everything is at the default (Stake) and I'm trying to set the household address to "Private - Leadership Only". I've tested some random ward members without issue. It seems to only be an issue for this one household. :(

Is there something special about this member? Bishop? Stake President? Someone that the members need to be able to see?

I am having the same problem. I have changed some members on our Do Not Contact list to "leadership" visibility. It worked for most, but for 4 of the names it wouldn't allow me to change visibility. I would select one of the options, but then nothing would change. There isn't anything unique about these members' records as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

Try closing the browser completely and logging back in. I remember some bugs where information was pulled from a cache. It would appear that the change didn't take effect, but it did. If you log out, close the browser completely (closing all windows), and log back in, then you'd see the new setting.

If that doesn't work, call Support and work with them on the issue so they can document it to pass to the developers.

Were you able to get this resolved? We are having the exact same problem in our ward.

We noticed that all of our issues were happening with families where the husband was a non-member. This is the response we got: "We currently have a bug in the Directory program surrounding the Privacy settings. If the Head of Household is a non-member we are seeing an issue with saving the setting. A fix has been created and we hope to have it released this week. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please try toward the end of the week to reset the Privacy."
