Can Households be split?
Our HP and EQ have recently rearranged some assignments giving the EQ responsibility for home teaching some prospective elders still living with their parents. The parents have been and will continue to be home taught by the high priests, but we want to assign their prospective elder children to the elders. It appears that we are not able to split the households for home teaching purposes. Is that the case, or is there a way to split the home teaching responsibilities between the two quorums?

The same households are used for home teaching and for display in the Directory, LDS Tools and in MLS. So to assign different home teachers you have to put them in a separate household which will then show up in the Directory, LDS Tools, etc. The bishop would have to decide whether this is appropriate.
Once the child is in a different household you can assign home teachers from whichever quorum desired. The child's household will only show up as 'unassigned' in the HP quorum but you can still assign them to an EQ companionship by typing their name rather than selecting from the 'unassigned' list.

I can't find any guidance in the Handbook, (although rereading Handbook 2: 7.4 - Home Teaching wouldn't be a bad idea.)
In the Help Center, it says:
In the Help Center, it says:
An adult child who lives with a parent who is a head of household, or another adult living at the same address, may be designated as a separate head of household. This will cause them to appear as a separate household on unit reports, allowing them to receive personalized attention from priesthood quorums or separate assignments for home or visiting teaching. These household decisions should be made by the bishop in consultation with the family members involved.

The same Help Center page referenced above gives instructions for splitting the household, which will need to be done by a ward clerk.
