Priest Ordination Parents not members
Is permission required from non-member parents for ordination to Priest for newly baptized young man?

Handbook 1: 16.7.2. Looks to me like permission is required.

We had a young man who was baptized while in High School but his parents were not members. As being a Priest would also entail him being given the opportunity to Home Teach, they were a little concerned with what that meant. The Bishop did have some discussions with the parents about certain aspects of what Priesthood duties he would be involved with.
His mother eventually joined the church and he is currently serving a mission - a great example to the youth in our Ward. I only share this because sometimes it can be a valuable discussion with non-member parents, based on the circumstances involved. The bishop would know...
