For the last year or so someone in our ward has been paying money for a missionary in another state. Because of the missionary's unusual name we did not know what it was for (name withheld due to privacy). We found out recently that it was for a missionary. We need to transfer the money. Is there a way of doing it without sending a check? Also, for future donations, can we apply it to them or will we just have to send them a check?
Thanks

Transfers can only be made between units in the same stake. So you'll need to send a check. For future donations you should tell them to send the check directly to the ward responsible for the missionary. Or alternatively they can use the new online donation tool and specify the missionary directly there.

If the member of your ward has primary responsibility for the missionary, you could have the account transferred to your ward.
