Hi,
I am a new asst. clerk helping out with membership. I was told that I could do everything remotely/online? My bishopric is new and I have been given very little direction and I'm trying to figure out all the ropes.
But I'm having a hard time finding certain options online, for example adding new babies after blessings / new membership etc.
I don't have a log in to the pc in the clerks office. (Although the I don't understand why this would be my only option?)
Can these things be done on lds.org / clerk resources or do I have to hunt down the stake clerk and get a log in for the ward pc?
Am I Confusing lds.org with the MLS?

Not true. Things are moving that way, but it's not there yet.D1String wrote:I am a new asst. clerk helping out with membership. I was told that I could do everything remotely/online?
Typically, everyone uses the same Windows login, but for functions not in LCR (on lds.org), you'll need a log in to the MLS program.D1String wrote:I don't have a log in to the pc in the clerks office.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Your ward clerk should be able to create a login for you on the ward MLS. If you don't have a ward clerk for some reason the bishop should be able to do it. You shouldn't need a stake clerk and in most cases the stake clerk wouldn't be able to do it.D1String wrote:do I have to hunt down the stake clerk and get a log in for the ward pc?

To clarify, most of the membership tasks are available on Leader and Clerk Resources (lcr.lds.org); for example:russellhltn wrote:Not true. – Viewing and printing reports and lists
– Moving records in and out
– Home and visiting teaching organization
– Editing contact information
– Updating callings
– Creating out-of-unit members
– Organizing members into quorums and classes
– Preparing class rolls
A few membership functions that are not yet on Leader and Clerk Resources are:
– Creating new membership records
– Recording ordinances
– Recording marriages and deaths
– Generating custom reports
For those membership items, and perhaps a few others, you'll still need to use MLS on the clerk computer.
