Because the LDS Account is used for multiple sites and programs, any change to the account will affect login credentials for other applications. Usernames can be changed at ldsaccount.lds.org, but it will affect logging in at familysearch.org, ldsjobs.org, lds.org, or any other affiliated site. Note: when trying to change your LDS Account username, if the new username is already taken by another individual (on their LDS Account), you will be given a message saying that the change was invalid or cannot be processed. Pick another username to try. Once that username is successfully changed, the LDS Account is synced immediately. No information on the sites will be affected, only the login username.
