Why couldnt we have an email reminder saying "in 90 days your recommend will expire". Info is already in the system.

While the basic technology is certainly there, what is missing is whether or not it would be appropriate to send such a notice. I have usually seen that a bishop reviews the list with the executive secretary and arranges appointments that way, rather than just using a general email.

Perhaps a user option to establish a reminder? I don't think it would be appropriate as a default.

That's an idea I like. Although I personally just set a reminder on my calendar. But if you think it might be worthwhile, go ahead and suggest it through a Feedback link at LDS.org.

Simpler solution: Go to the temple enough that you get reminded personally by the brother at the desk that your recommend is expiring soon. I've never had them fail to mention when it's getting close. ;)

They do that at some temples. At our temple, they have been asked not to mention anything about when the recommend will expire.

And I'm old enough to remember when they used to wish us a happy birthday. I guess it just got too personal. I don't know.

What temple do you go to where they are not allowed to mention it?
