How long does it usually take for changes in ward and stake boundaries to appear in CDOL?

Do you mean the boundaries themselves, or the leadership changes resulting from divisions and realignments?

Leadership changes usually update in CDOL as soon as they are sent by the stake and ward. My last experience was with MLS. Now that you have to use LCR to make those changes, if there is a lag, it would possibly be because of an interface problem where the software is not sharing properly.

It was about 4 years ago but when that happened to my ward it took a few days before the change showed up fully. I don't remember exactly how long though.

I think it will update within a day or two of when the presiding officer (stake president/general authority) turns in the paperwork that tells Headquarters the change was made and sustained in whatever meeting it happened.

If it has been more than a week, a stake clerk might call the GSD and let them know the change has not been made in CDOL. We did that once a while ago, a secretary retrieved the paperwork and got it where it needed to be, and the change was in place by sundown. No guarantees, of course.

We created a new unit on Sunday, as of right now, it's still not showing in CDOL.

Our stake just split 2 wards into 3 about 6 months ago. The change in the maps at CDOL showed up within a week and in lds maps by the end of a week. The basic leaders were there within a week. Full organizational information took about 3 weeks to make it to directories and to CDOL. Guessing it probably has more to do with data entry people than with the computer system.

Last Thursday our stake president received an approval letter for four wards to be transferred into our stake from a neighboring stake. With a list of the changes we requested, the letter stated:
Approval is granted and you are authorized to make these changes. Please keep in mind that the matter should first be presented to the membership involved for their approval and sustaining vote. Once the approved changes have occurred, please contact Church Headquarters by calling [phone number] or email [email address].
On Sunday the boundary change was sustained, and on Monday morning, our stake clerk called the phone number included in the letter. By Monday afternoon the transferred wards showed up under our stake in CDOL and LDS Tools and by Monday evening they showed up in Leader and Clerk Resources.

I imagine transferring complete wards between stakes takes less work at headquarters than splitting or combining wards and stakes. However, the key is to call headquarters using the contact info in the letter, as soon as the change is sustained.

As a update, the new ward showed up on Thursday with the Branch President and two counselors. So I was able to go ahead and set up their computer.

The next hold up was getting the old ward to do the split. It seems they were getting audited the following Sunday, so the clerk was too busy to get around to it right away. But that's since been done, so now the challenge is to get everyone called and recorded.
