WHy are some addresses not linked to maps?
Several members have asked me why the ability to get a map when you click on an address is missing for some members? There are a number of them in our ward and None of them has requested any privacy changes. How is this "feature" edited?

When a household's address has a status of "unmapped" then there will be no "Show on Map" option for that household in the Directory.oldrifleman wrote:Several members have asked me why the ability to get a map when you click on an address is missing for some members?
This is related to the mapping status of a household, not to the privacy status (although if the address is set to private, then the "Show on Map" option will of course not appear, regardless of the mapping status).oldrifleman wrote:There are a number of them in our ward and None of them has requested any privacy changes.
The individual or a clerk can go to the Maps application on LDS.org and verify the position of the household marker. That will remove the unmapped status and cause the "Show on Map" option to appear in the Directory application.oldrifleman wrote:How is this "feature" edited?

Re: WHy are some addresses not linked to maps?
On the Maps program ("Maps and Meetinghouse Locator" in the "My Account and Ward" link) a ward administrator needs to verify the household location. If the household location has not been verified and the maps program cannot resolve the location then it will be marked as "unmapped". Additionally, unresolved household locations could be displayed outside the stake/district boundaries.
Adult members of the household can "member verify" the household location on the Maps program. This will at least get the household location marker on the map at or near the correct location if Maps cannot resolve the location. Then at some time, when they get to it, the administrators can fully verify the location.
