Primary Assistant Secretary

#1

Post by PhilipRossBennallack »

Is there a standard calling position for a primary assistant secretary? Our primary is quite large so we've called an assistant secretary to help our primary secretary keep classes organized, track attendance etc. She's currently listed as assistant secretary, as a custom calling but this doesn't give her any LCR rights.

Interestingly, I can see assistant secretary is a standard position for RS so it stands to reason something equivalent should exist for primary. Any suggestions?

No.

Furthermore, Handbook 2, 11.2.3 clearly uses the singular when referring to the Primary secretary, so there can only be one.

When it comes to callings, LCR follows the Handbook, which may not always match what to some people may "stand to reason." The calling of assistant RS secretary is specifically mentioned in Handbook 2, 9.2.5. No such calling is mentioned for the Primary organization.

Have the assistant secretary focus on tasks that don't require access to LCR. With a careful division of labor, I would think that this could significantly reduce the load on the Primary secretary.

Does Leader and Clerk Resources allow you to split Primary into two Primary organizations similar to how quorums and Relief Societies can be split? If so, if your Primary is large, this may be a solution.

Thanks a lot. That helps to clarify the situation. We'll do as you suggested regarding the division of labor.

Cheers.
