It would seem I have missed some calendar updates and there are a number of changes to the calendar system. I have been at this for quite sometime and I thought I fully understood the system but after reading some of the materials available online I have some questions. I have new building schedulers in my stake and I need to be sure I am training them correctly. As building schedulers are we now able to place an announcement on a building wide calendar, So that information appears on the calendars of all the wards in a given building? I noticed that in my list of calendars it begins with a building option and I wondered how it was used.
Also, I noticed that it is now possible for me to make "corrections" to a given event entry without that entry changing over to indicate I am the one entering the event. This is quite a stealth and convenient addition of which I highly approve, as I frequently have leaders call to me when they are not near their computers who need to make a change to an event; in the past I would have to ask them to "go in and make an adjustment to your event, so folks don't call and ask ME questions about it, cause now my name's on it as having entered it." This is a great addition, thank you.
Speaking of entering events - are building schedulers in the business of doing that again? For a time it had gone away - I was reading materials on the website and it seemed to indicate that it might be back again? Please clarify. It was talking about "reservations". I thought we had stopped doing those since it is a better practice to have the leadership enter their own events immediately and not have to chase a building scheduler around do it for them.
It there a way that I can automatically keep up with changes to the calendar system? I receive the "technology" newsletters but I haven't noticed these changes mentioned there. Some of these changes are really helpful to be made aware of.
Thank you.

That's the "building calendar" which is mostly just a listing of all events taking place in the building. I don't see any way of using it as an announcement.nancypalemany wrote:I noticed that in my list of calendars it begins with a building option and I wondered how it was used.
I haven't noticed that, but that sounds like something that could be abused. It's nice that members don't ask you about an event, but there really needs to be an audit of who last modified an event. Otherwise, there is no accountability.nancypalemany wrote:Also, I noticed that it is now possible for me to make "corrections" to a given event entry without that entry changing over to indicate I am the one entering the event. No. It's possible to make a restriction on the calendar. And now it's possible to place an event on the building calendar that effectively blocks off the use of the building. But they still can't add events to unit calendars. Events added to building calendars do not sync to LDS Tools nor to the sync URL. So they're not a good substitute for placing a event in the appropriate unit calendar.nancypalemany wrote:Speaking of entering events - are building schedulers in the business of doing that again? Usually the developers will drop a note in the forum to announce significant new changes.nancypalemany wrote:It there a way that I can automatically keep up with changes to the calendar system? Re: Calendar updatesI think I missed
Thanks, things haven't changed as much as I thought. It looks like the materials on the website may be out of date.
As for the stealth changes - I thought it might be a Website Admin privilege, I won't count on it and will continue to check who's name appears as having entered an event. The changes are pretty minor that I've noticed I can make - like adding information to the event details or adding or subtracting a room; more then that and the name at the bottom of the screen changes.
It might be handy to add "Calendar" update notices to the technology newsletter or at least an announcement in the newsletter that something has changed and to go in and check the forum since I, for one, am on the Stk Technology committee and receive this newsletter. Thank you.
