Non-profit Postage (USA)

#1

Post by bench.john »

Does the Church have a non-profit postage permit that would make Wards eligible to send out mail at a discounted rate? How would I go about getting that set up for my Ward?

I have noticed that other non-profit organization have a little stamp that says non-profit. I have looked into it a bit on the US Postal Service's website, but it was mostly talking about organizations that solicit donations through the mail or who send out a newsletter to their members. The flow chart said that if it did not contain a product or an advertisement then it could be eligible for the non-profit rate.

I was wondering because we mail out checks to pay bills (e.g. fast-offering recipients, groceries stores where we have an account, etc.) and sometimes to forward certificates or other documents to members who have moved out. Also sometimes we send out announcements.

This service requires a minimum mailing of 200 pieces at the entering post office to take advantage of the Non-profit Postage rate. Each organization applies to the post office where they will present the mailing.

And several of the items you mentioned are FIrst Class items that would not qualify.
