VLC & Windows Media Player

#1

Post by jswalberg »

I'm using the Meetinghouse Webcast Communicator to webcast. I can receive the webcast with no issues in Windows Media Player on my laptop and in VLC on my smartphone.

I want to receive it in VLC on my laptop, but I just keep getting this error message: "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://stream.lds.org/XXXXXX-XXXXXX'. Check the log for details." (those X's are to hide the actual link)

The link is correct. Any ideas why it won't place in VLC on my laptop?

Sometimes changing "http" to "mms" in the URL link will solve the problem, but I have not found this to be reliable enough to try at an actual broadcast. There is so much arguing on my laptop between WMP and VLC that I have not been able to sort through it successfully. What works one time does not work the same way the next time, at least for me.

I hear you. I used VLC on a different computer (a clerk's computer) and it works just fine. What an annoying problem.
