Transferring notes from LDS View
One other question. Maybe 25 years ago, the Church came out of their own scripture program on CD's called "LDS Scriptures on CD". Years later they changed the name to "LDS View" and it is now web based. The designers of the program work at BYU Provo. Then the Church came out with the current scriptures at lds.org. I've been using "LDS View" for the last 25 years and now have a gigantic amount of notes/highlights. Most younger people have never heard of LDS View. My question is...is there any discussion about transferring notes/highlights from LDS View to my scriptures at lds.org? I love LDS View but the whole Church has now migrated to lds.org and I feel like I'm all by myself with all my years of notes and highlights.

Transferring notes from LDS View
I don't foresee that being likely for a couple reasons. 1) While LDS View is certainly affiliated with the Church, it does not appear to be an official offering (indeed, its support email feeds to a BYU account, not to an ldschurch account). 2) LDS View does not appear to be updated and has not been since November of 2012. In fact, their website still notes that they don't yet have the 2013 Edition of the Standard Works.
If it is any consolation, I'd qualify, likely, as a 'younger' person. I've heard of it, but have only actually used LDS.org and the Gospel Library applications. If there are specific features of LDS View that you'd like to see in the Windows version of Gospel Library, be sure to send a feedback email with your suggestions.

Transferring notes from LDS View
If I take the time to transfer all my notes/highlights from LDS View should I put them in Gospel Library or in the scriptures/manuals of lds.org? It will take me a couple of years so I don't want to go in the wrong direction.

What you do on LDS.org will sync with the Gospel Library and vice versa - so it doesn't matter which one you use, unless you don't intend to use your login in the GL.

Transferring notes from LDS View
This has been unbelievably helpful to me. About 30 years ago Pres. Hinckley announced in General Conference, LDS Scriptures on CD, which became LDS View. I started using them in a big way for many years including notes/highlights. Then, I saw the Church moved in a different direction with the scriptures on lds.org and Gospel Library. Then I worried about what I would do with all those years of notes/highlights from LDS View. I want to be in the mainstream with the other members, so, I suppose I'll have to transfer all my customization over to Gospel Library. I'll have to do it by hand. I didn't know lds.org and Gospel Library were connected. That means any notes/highlights I make in one will automatically be transferred to the other? I do have some things in LDS View that I wish were in Gospel Library. Anyway, is there a person or a class I can attend to ask all my questions before I start the painstaking process of transferring everything from LDS View to Gospel Library? I live in Syracuse, UT and am willing to travel to meet with someone or attend a class.
Thank you very much for all this information.

Re: Transferring notes from LDS View
David,
I hope someone else has a better answer, but I did an extensive search for Gospel Library training about 6 months ago and didn't find training specific to the Windows version (and I don't have a Windows device, so I can't make it), but maybe the following will help indirectly...
GL for Windows 8 here (might be the best option):
https://tech.lds.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=141#
GL for Windows 8 wiki page here:
https://tech.lds.org/wiki/Gospel_Library_for_Windows_8
LDSTech Broadcasts page (the most recent one talked about GL for Windows 8; while not training, sometimes the broadcasts show things that help you know how to use the app):
https://tech.lds.org/wiki/LDSTech_broadcasts
http://broadcast.lds.org/ICS/techtalk20 ... 02-07.html
Training videos for other versions (Android and iOS have more features than Windows at present, and how you do / get to some things can be very different, but if you want to watch, they might give you some ideas):
Android: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpjc0W ... m0A/videos
iOS: http://gospellibrarytraining.blogspot.c ... y-and.html
FWIW,
Liz

Gospel Library for Windows has a built-in help guide that goes over all of the major features and most of the minor features of the application.I hope someone else has a better answer, but I did an extensive search for Gospel Library training about 6 months ago and didn't find training specific to the Windows version (and I don't have a Windows device, so I can't make it), but maybe the following will help indirectly...
As I mentioned before, as there is no official support for LDS View from either the Church or LDS View's own developers (who have not updated in roughly three years), any moving of notes and highlights you do will almost certainly need to be done by hand.I need to transfer 25 years of notes/highlights from LDS View to Gospel Library. Re: Transferring notes from LDS View
In theory, it could also be done by code (either to simulate the human or to hack the database). That's why I suggested the OP visit the Windows-specific forum (rather than this one which is OS-neutral), cuz that's the most likely place to find someone who knows enough to aid with this (assuming such a person is out there and willing to be found).
(I don't have the tools to do this, but someone does; it's just a question of whether they're willing, and whether they can be found.)
