Purging Documents Document
There was a document that outlined how long documents should be kept. I can't seem to find it now. Can anyone direct me to where I can find said document?

I don't know as you'll find a definitive document that covers everything, but the wiki's Record retention is a good start.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Re: Purging Documents Document
I haven't seen the actual document in many years, but I remember it. The three-year financial retention requirement (U.S., may be different in other countries) is in the Help Center under File and Retain Donation Documents. It is repeated under File and Retain Expense Records.Hilohi wrote:There was a document that outlined how long documents should be kept. I can't seem to find it now. MLS automatically removes financial information at the end of the retention period.
I cannot find anything similar for Membership Records and information. It makes sense to me that you would keep them as long as you felt you needed them, and then destroy them. An exception is that any Melchizedek Priesthood ordination information you find locally should be sent to Church headquarters, unless it is already recorded on the membership record. This is particularly true for the period in the 1990s when the person who performed the ordination was not recorded on membership records.
