A member of our unit was called to be president for the local singles' branch. Both his record and the record of the wife were transferred out of our unit and into the branch's unit, but they still receive HT/VT visits from our ward. Is there any way we can create a placeholder record or something else so the RS can track the visits made to the wife while they are assigned to the branch?
(Also, shouldn't the records in this case remain in the home ward and an out of unit administrator record created in the branch or is it common for records to be moved like this?)

Yes, it should remain in your unit. However, there has been a number of issues with "out of unit" members, so perhaps it was to overcome that.aclawson wrote:Also, shouldn't the records in this case remain in the home ward and an out of unit administrator record created in the branch or is it common for records to be moved like this?
Good question. You can try and create out-of-unit member, but I'm not sure if you can assign it VT. Even if you did, she would not be included in the quarterly stats for your ward - those are limited to members of the ward.aclawson wrote:they still receive HT/VT visits from our ward. And there's no guarantee that this will work once the VT switches to on-line.

Re: VT reporting for member not in unit
The membership record for this person should remain in your ward, because he is under the stewardship of your ward's leaders. For example, if he were to renew his temple recommend, he would go to your bishop. In the single adult branch, they need to create an out-of-unit membership record for the leader.
Work with the single adult branch clerk to transfer the membership record back to your ward. Before the record is transferred back, you might have them print an Individual Ordinance Summary, which has all the info needed to create an out-of-unit membership record. Then they will create the record and assign the proper calling.
