record going to Guam

#1

Post by 1historian »

We have a membership record we received from address unknown. After completing the suggested steps we have determined that she has moved to and is working in Guam. When we tried to move the records in LCR no ward shows up in Guam. Is this because I'm misspelling something and so it cant find the ward or is it because it is outside of the US and Canada?

The Barrigada Guam Stake is part of Asia North Area.

But why does LCR not find a ward to move the record to?
Using CDOL I found a possible unit but am awaiting a response from the clerk in that ward.

No idea. You might try maps.lds.org. It's possible the address isn't formatted in a way it can figure out. Just "Guam" is insufficient to know what ward that will be.

But you asked if Guam is outside the US/Canada. And by church organization, it appears that it is.

Yes, Sorry I knew it was located outside the US and Canada I was wondering if LCR would find specific wards outside of the US and Canada. Or if it relied on someone at Church headquarters for International moves out of the US.

I originally posted this post in your duplicate post that was deleted while I was composing. So here it is:

The first item of the residential address is the country. It defaults to the United States for units in the US. For the purposes of the "Move Records Out" feature in LCR Guam is another country even though it is a territory of the US. Select Guam in that drop down list.

Make sure you have an address for the member and do not send a record to a unit without a complete address. If the location such as city, state/province, and country are known but a complete address is not known then select the radio button "no" under "Is the new address known?" Then place the known information in the "Any Contact Information" text box. While this will send the record back to "Address Unknown" it will provide more information for the service missionaries to work with.

I did note in a test that moving a record to Guam with a complete and valid address did not result in the system functioning properly. With the country set to Guam and the address entered, the list box for "Select a State or Province" did not function. But the Continue button was active so I clicked it. As expected the "Unit Where the Record(s) Are Moving" text/list box did not show any unit(s). Using LDS Maps I found the units for Guam and selected what appeared to be the correct one and entered that unit in the "Unit Where the Record(s) Are Moving" text/list box. After doing that a complete list of units for Guam were listed in addition to the unit I had typed in. So while the normal operation for "Move Records Out" did not function I was able to get to the final step. Since it was a test I cannot say what would have happened had I clicked the "Move Out of Ward[/Branch]" button.
