Quite some time ago somebody indicated that they had mounted their camera to a garage door opener to raise and lower it into position for the conferences.
1. How much did the project cost, start to finish?
2. Do you still have the plans and parts list for the project?

Re: Garage door opener to lower camera?
I think you're referring to the Camera mounting ideas for Sony EVI-D70 thread.

Re: Garage door opener to lower camera?
Yes that is the thread. It mentions two installations in the Phoenix area and I just completed installation of another system in San Antonio. We will be using it for our stake conference next week and after we are done, I will post pictures of my installation to go with the other ones. I would be happy to talk with you about it if you are interested. Just give me a week to get through stake conference.
It cost us about $500 to build and that includes all the construction material to build out the catwalks and work platforms. It also includes the Garage Door opener and the pole and the mounting hardware. That number doesn't include the camera, or the enclosure that it retracts into (It was donated by a member), or the electrical (again donated by a member).
You will also need three skill sets to do this:
1. General Handyman
2. Electrician
3. Metal Worker
I've learned a lot doing this and would be happy to pass along my experiences.
