Accessing Ward Membership Data from Stake MLS

#1

Post by sjhaynes-p40 »

I am wondering if there is a way to access member calling information (not just for Ward leaders) on the Stake MLS account so we can run reports to find out people with certain callings in each ward (eg. Family History Consultants)? We can view all the membership record information but cvan we access their calling info? (Also we occassionally see inconsistencies in Leadership info from the Wards even when the wards send unit data to the Stake regularly..)

Unfortunately, the answer is no. The only calling data that is sent from ward MLS to stake MLS is for the specified leadership callings. Membership record data is separate from calling information, and at this point MLS chooses to send the membership record, but not calling information. There are several other pieces of data that would also be helpful, such as specific HT/VT data (only summary statistics are sent now), or organization membership. But I guess that there are performance reasons why it is good for MLS limit the amount of data that wards have to upload and stakes have to download.

Stake MLS even tempts you by making a field called "Callings" available in Custom Reports. But alas, it will only list those callings that are stake callings or the special ward leadership callings.

You don't say what those "inconsistencies" are, but In my experience the biggest problem occurs when the special leadership positions have been changed and replaced by custom positions. Often this is done unwittingly, with no understanding that changing a 1st Counselor in a Relief Society presidency to "Education Counselor" will make that position invisible to stake MLS (and to the Officers Sustained form used in Ward Conference).

See this thread for more details on how to track down and correct such problems.

Thanks for your help. It would seem a big benefit for helping the Stake leaders work with Ward leaders if this was available and compared to membership data it surely does not have that much of an impact on performance... Means we have to separately request info from Wards/HC Advisors. Thanks anyway..

Inconsistencies threads were helpful. Will have to try and see but similar issues where a Wards' 1st and 2nd Counsellors in Sunday School Presidency did not show up in Stake MLS against Ward Leaders..
