Moneygram made out to the Bishop

#1

Post by fauxden »

Hi,

So we received a moneygram/money order that was actually made out to the Bishop. Anyone have any experience with this? What should I do with it? It was included with a tithing slip, indicating a tithing donation.

I would have the bishop endorse it by signing, then the words Pay To The Order of [your unit], then stamp it with your normal endorsment stamp.

From time to time, we'd receive checks payable to the bishop, rather than the ward. We jokingly called them the bishop's "tips," and handled them as described above. We never had a problem with them coming back.
