2014 vs 2015 Contributions

So, what is the official policy for allowing payments that came in after Dec 31, 2014 to be able to be counted as a 2014 donation? Is their a procedure or a list of requirements for this?

I am told we can back-date a batch, but not sure how I feel about that. Is that lawful? Honest?

This is covered in Year-end Donations. The donation must be in the hands of the bishop before 2015 or postmarked in 2014 to be considered a 2014 donation.

This Sunday, you're likely to run two batches: one for donations made in 2014 and one for 2015.

This isn't just policy, it's tax law.

Donations handed to a bishopric member on or before 31 December 2014 and donations mailed to the bishop/branch president with a postmark on or before 31 December 2014 can be entered into a batch that is set to 31 December 2014 or earlier. There can be multiple batches recorded on the same date. So do not be concerned if donations arrive in the mail at different dates in January but cannot be processed in one batch.
