Internationalization and the Church

I'm a college student at USU studying technical communication. Due to my mission, I am interested in understanding better the process of globalization (localization, internationalization and globalization) in web development. The Church is a great example of that. What are some of the methods/programs used? And, if there is any advice on directing my search and understanding, what do you have?
